Product Description

Corrosion Resistance EN AW 5052 Aluminium Coil AA5052 Aluminium Coil

5052 aluminum is a versatile premium-grade material suitable for a wide range of applications.

Although the metal is not heat treatable, magnesium and chromium — the two most prevalent

alloying elements — significantly increase the aluminum’s strength, durability, and corrosion re

-sistance. The increased tensile strength and yield strength allows the alloy to handle high levels

of stress and stand up to the harshest of environmental conditions.

Key Performance Parameters

Typical Mechanical Properties (RT)

Temper Tensile Strength (MPa) Yield Strength (MPa) Elongation (%)
O 170-210 65-100 23-30
H32 220-260 170-200 12-18
H34 240-285 190-230 10-14

Special Properties

Fatigue Strength: ≈110MPa @ 10⁷ cycles

Cryogenic Toughness: >90% impact energy retention @ -196℃

Forming Limit: Strain hardening exponent (n)≈0.25 (O temper)

Four Core Advantages

♦ Superior Corrosion Resistance

Marine performance: 5000hr salt spray test with no perforation corrosion

Stress corrosion: 0.25% Cr addition reduces intergranular corrosion susceptibility by 60%

♦ Excellent Workability

Formability: Limit drawing ratio up to 2.2 (O temper)

Weldability: TIG welding maintains 85%+ strength retention

Machinability: Cutting force only 30% of mild steel

♦  Lightweight Economic Benefits

Specific strength: 80 kN·m/kg (better than 304 stainless)

Weight reduction: 40-50% lighter than steel alternatives

Lifecycle cost: 35-50% lower than stainless steel

♦ Special Environment Adaptability

Cryogenic performance: >90% impact toughness retention at -196℃

Chemical resistance: <0.02mm/year corrosion rate in pH3-11

EMI shielding: 30-60dB (at 1GHz frequency)

Applications

• Transportation

Marine: Decks, bulkheads (3-6mm)

Automotive: Fuel tanks, battery trays (30%+ weight reduction)

• Architecture

Curtain Walls: PVDF-coated panels (20+ years weatherability)

Ceilings: Pre-painted sheets (0.6-1.2mm)

• Electronics

Heat Sinks: LED substrates (138W/m·K)

EMI Shielding: 5G enclosures (30dB SE)

• Industrial

Chemical Tanks: pH3-11 resistance

Food Equipment: FDA 21 CFR 175.300 compliant
