5000 Series 5182 Aluminum Coil Used For Beverage Pull Tab
5182 aluminum alloy belongs to the Al-Mg alloy. It has good corrosion resistance, excellent
weldability, good cold workability, and has medium strength.
Balances strength, formability, and cost, making it the standard for pull-tab production.
Typical Thickness
Range: 0.25 mm – 0.31 mm
This thickness is optimized to balance strength (for pulling) and formability
(for stamping the tab shape).
In some high-performance beverage cans (e.g., energy drinks), the thickness may reach up
to 0.33 mm depending on the design.
Typical Temper
H19:
This is a fully strain-hardened temper.
Offers maximum strength without further heat treatment.
